1. How do I post a letter on the site?
Posting a letter is fast and easy. To post a letter, you will
have to login, or create a user account. Once that is done,
just click the “Ask Anyone” button, and fill in
the form. After the letter is submitted, our editors will review
it (please allow 2 business days), and will either post
the letter or return the letter to you for revision.
2. Do I have to pay to post a letter
or vote on letters?
No. The core features of DearAnyone.com are 100% free.
3. Can I post a letter completely anonymously?
Absolutely. No personal information is included in any posted
letter. In fact, we don’t even ask for your name, address,
phone number or any other personal information when you create
a user account. DearAnyone.com respects your privacy.
4. How I can I check the voting results
for my letter(s)?
Just log in, and you will be taken to the “control panel.”
Every letter submission will be listed with a status (pending,
approved or rejected). If the letter has been approved, then you
can check the voting results by clicking on the “view”
button.
5. Am I guaranteed to have my letter
posted on the site?
No. Letters can be rejected for a variety of reasons, including
criminal, violent or inappropriate content, poor grammar and spelling,
or similarity to another letter. DearAnyone.com reserves all rights
to reject and to refuse to post any letter. Tips to have your
letter approved are emailed to you when you create a user account.
6. Will my letter be edited before it
is posted?
DearAnyone.com reserves all rights to edit your submission,
including editing any spelling and grammar mistakes, and improving
answers. However, we will make every effort to keep letters in
your own words, and we will never add factual details to a letter.
7. Can I re-submit a letter after it
has been rejected?
Yes. When letters are rejected, an explanation for the rejection
is always given. This explanation can be seen by clicking on “view”
beside a letter in the control panel after you log in. We welcome
corrections and changes and re-submission of a letter.
8. Will my vote be counted more than
once for a particular letter?
No. When a letter appears that you have already voted on, you
will have to click on a voting icon to see the next letter. However,
votes from a particular computer (with a unique IP address) will
only be counted once for each letter.
9. Can I vote on my own letter?
You can vote on your own letter if you are not logged in. However,
if you are logged in, you will not be able to vote on your own
letter. You will see the tabulated voting results instead of the
voting icons.
10. Is there a limit to the number of
letters I can post or vote on?
No. There is no limit to the number of letters you can post
or view.
11. Do I need a different login for
each of the advice categories?
No. Letters submitted to various categories can all be managed
through one user account.
12. I’ve lost my password. How
